Welcome to the African Climate Change Movement (ACCM). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the ACCM platform, including our website, services, directories, training programs, and other resources (collectively, the "Services"). By accessing or using our Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the platform.

1. About ACCM

The African Climate Change Movement (ACCM) is a nonprofit digital platform that connects environmental and climate organizations across Africa with each other and with global partners. Our platform supports knowledge sharing, training, collaboration, recruitment, and advocacy for climate action.

ACCM operates with the goal of promoting sustainability, equity, and grassroots empowerment. We do not charge organizations or individuals to join the platform, and we do not offer guaranteed funding or employment.

2. Eligibility

To use our platform, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old or have parental/guardian permission if underage.
  • Have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
  • Agree to provide true, accurate, and current information.
  • Use the platform only for lawful and ethical purposes.

Organizations must be working in climate-related or environmental fields to be listed or to engage in partnerships on ACCM.

3. Our Services

ACCM provides a range of free and collaborative services, including:

  • A searchable directory of African climate and sustainability organizations.
  • A platform for partnership building between organizations across Africa and internationally.
  • Volunteer and job board listings for individuals and Organizations.
  • Training opportunities in skills like grant writing, project management, social media, and more.
  • Recruitment of ambassadors, trainers, and volunteers to support climate education and mobilization.

Note: ACCM is not an employment agency, does not offer financial grants directly, and cannot guarantee outcomes or benefits.

4. User and Organization Accounts

Users and organizations may need to create an account or fill out forms to access certain services. You agree to:

  • Provide complete and accurate information.
  • Keep your login credentials confidential.
  • Update your information when necessary.
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

We reserve the right to approve or deny listings, suspend accounts, or remove content that violates our values or these Terms.

5. Code of Conduct

All users and organizations agree to:

  • Treat others with respect, professionalism, and courtesy.
  • Avoid sharing or promoting hate speech, misinformation, spam, or unlawful content.
  • Use the platform solely for climate-related and nonprofit or social good purposes.
  • Refrain from misrepresenting their identity, affiliations, or intentions.

Any violation of this Code of Conduct may lead to removal from the platform without notice.

6. Content Ownership and Intellectual Property

All content on the ACCM platform—including logos, website design, training materials, and published content—is owned by ACCM or its contributors and is protected by copyright and intellectual property laws.

Users and trainers who contribute content (such as documents, videos, or graphics) retain ownership of their work but grant ACCM a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to:

  • Display and distribute the content across the platform.
  • Use it for educational, reporting, and promotional purposes.
  • Include it in newsletters, reports, or external communications, with appropriate credit.

You may not use ACCM's content without prior written permission.

7. Use of Information and Organizational Activities

By submitting your organization's details to the ACCM platform, you agree that:

  • ACCM may include your organization's name, public profile, activities, and impact stories in collaborative grant proposals, project reports, donor communications, and funding applications that benefit the wider ACCM network or specific initiatives.
  • ACCM may share or highlight your impact stories, programs, and successes across its website, social media, newsletters, and advocacy reports to showcase progress in Africa's climate sector.
  • You remain responsible for ensuring that any information submitted is truthful and does not violate any third-party rights.

If your organization wishes to opt out of any of these uses, you must contact ACCM in writing to make such a request.

8. Data Protection and Privacy

We value your privacy. ACCM only collects data necessary to provide and improve its services. By using our platform, you agree to our data practices, which include:

  • Collecting names, emails, and organization details for user verification and communication.
  • Sending updates, training invites, or partnership requests.
  • Anonymizing data for internal impact assessments and platform improvement.

9. External Websites and Resources

Our platform may include links to external websites, platforms, or services. ACCM is not responsible for the content, practices, or policies of any third-party websites. Users are encouraged to review external privacy policies and terms before engagement.

10. Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability

ACCM provides its platform and services "as is" and without warranties of any kind. We make no guarantees about:

  • The availability, timeliness, or reliability of the platform.
  • Outcomes from training, partnerships, or connections made through the platform.
  • Any financial gain or employment resulting from participation.

ACCM will not be liable for any damages, losses, or liabilities resulting from the use of the platform or participation in ACCM-related programs.

11. Changes to Services or Terms

We may revise these Terms or modify services at any time, and changes will become effective once posted on our website. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

12. Suspension or Termination of Access

ACCM reserves the right to suspend or terminate access to any user or organization for violations of these Terms, for fraudulent or unethical behavior, or for activities that harm the integrity of the platform. You may also request to delete your data or profile at any time.
